I Have Decided

Hello there, my friends.

I have "decided" to join Kate Montaung and all the lovely five minute writers over at Five Minute Friday (. . . on Sunday).
Better late than never.

This week's word:  DECIDE.

Simple, yet complicated.

For some people it seems as if making a decision is not complicated at all. They know exactly what they want, they are quick to seize opportunities and they're not afraid to go for it. And, interestingly, it just appears as if most of the time they get it right.
Yet, for others, it's not so easy.

Decisions are never isolated.
Consequences and/or benefits are always part of the package.

When we make a great decision we shout it out from the rooftops, yet when we make a poor one, it's nobody's business.  Our poor decisions unmask our weaknesses and what we don't know.

I'd rather make a good decision than a poor one just like the next gal, but it is through my mistakes that I experience the greatest learning curves.  There are details that I've learned through poor decisions that I could have never learned if everything went as planned.  I've also learned that there is life after a bad decision.  Oh yes, I agree with the saying, "we are free to make our choices, but we are not free from the consequences"; that much is true.  However, we can move on, hopefully more informed and less likely to repeat our mistake again.
And, if we do, and we might, there's grace for that.

Wishing you a lovely Sunday~

  1. "We are free to make our choices, but we are not free from the consequences." <-- This is what freewill is. I love this quote. (If you follow my link, I messed up, and my 5-minute post will go tomorrow. I did it a day early, because I lost track of what day today is.) Thanks for sharing this honest admission of the fear of making the wrong decision. It can be absolutely paralyzing, but choosing not to choose is still a decision.
